CPE (Chlorinated Polyethylene) and Polyethylene are both polymers, but they have some key differences:

1. Composition:
   - CPE (Chlorinated Polyethylene): CPE is polyethylene that has been chlorinated. The chlorination process alters the physical and chemical properties of polyethylene, providing better chemical resistance, heat resistance, and weatherability.
   - Polyethylene (PE): Polyethylene is the simplest polymer, consisting of repeated ethylene units. It is a pure polymer without any chlorination process.

2. Properties:
   - CPE: CPE offers excellent chemical resistance, weatherability, and oil resistance, along with high durability and flexibility. These properties make CPE widely used in applications such as wire and cable insulation, tubing, films, waterproof sheets, and other industrial products.
   - Polyethylene: PE is lightweight and has good moisture resistance, chemical resistance, and insulating properties. It comes in various forms like LDPE (Low-Density Polyethylene) and HDPE (High-Density Polyethylene), each used for different purposes. PE is commonly used in packaging materials, pipes, containers, and bags.

3. Applications:
   - CPE: Primarily used in wire insulation, hoses, films, waterproof membranes, and other applications where chemical resistance and weatherability are required.
   - Polyethylene: It can be processed into various forms and is extensively used in packaging, consumer goods, construction materials, and piping across different industries.

4. Cost:
   - CPE: Typically more expensive than PE due to the more complex manufacturing process and the additional chlorination step.
   - Polyethylene: Generally cheaper and easier to produce in large quantities.

These two materials are chosen based on their specific properties and applications, with the optimal material selected according to the intended use.
